Description:
Action Communications is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join its technical team. As a Radio Service Technician, your job will include the in-shop and in-field servicing and repairing of a wide assortment of equipment from leading manufacturers like Motorola, Kenwood, Icom, Zetron, Telex and many more. You will install radio systems in vehicles, in buildings and at radio tower sites. You will have opportunities to be involved in complex system designs employing more advanced technologies including, digital systems, trunking systems, RoIP and other related communications technologies to serve our customers in the Public Safety and Commercial sectors.
Responsibilities:
  • Timely Service and Repair of two-way radio equipment, both in-shop and in the field
  • Programming and tuning of radio equipment
  • Installation and setup of radio equipment in vehicles
  • Installation and setup of radio systems for building and tower sites
  • Provide pre and post sale technical support to sales team
  • Assist in complex communications system designs
  • Provide top-notched customer service
  • Stay current on product advances and obtain training and certifications

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency theory and AC/DC electrical fundamentals
  • Ability to perform diagnostics with Multi-meters, RF Test Monitors, Oscilloscopes, and other industry test equipment
  • Ability to service and repair electronics at the component level
  • Proficiency with soldering tools, hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to climb communications towers for installations and maintenance
  • Good communications skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Clean driving record and valid WA drivers license
  • Willing and able to work after normal business hours on-call
  • Must be a US citizen or legal resident, lawfully employable in the US.
Preferred but not required:
  • Degree or diploma in a two-year or more electronics program
  • Industry licenses from testing agency (FCC, FICA, or NARTE)
  • Skilled in installing and/or repairing antennas, portable, mobile, base station, repeater and other radio equipment
  • Proficiency with cable installation and connectorization
  • Experience with dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunking radio systems, and digital radio systems
  • Experience with related technologies such as WiFi, Wireless Point-to-Point or Multipoint, Wireless Video, IP based system network solutions
